ENVIRONMENT

We are committed to continually improving environmental protection. We set out environmental targets, supported by specific strategies. These strategies cover everything from the selection of materials, the stipulation of formulas, processes, and machines, and the choice of the right packaging. Our environmental strategies are supplemented by take-back guarantees, in-house disposal concepts, and the use of recycled materials in the production cycle. Internal and external environmental audits regularly confirm that REHAU is successfully embracing these challenging objectives and is a responsible and ecologically sound corporation.

Our company operates an environmental management system under ISO 14001 at several of our sites and has already obtained corresponding certification. These certificates are available on request.

Our Environmental Health and Saftey (EHS) Department works to ensure the implementation and monitoring of statutory provisions and to improve environmental management. Recycling activities are coordinated in our construction, automotive, and industry sectors. The three main business areas also work in close collaboration with our Chemistry Department to evaluate and select materials based on environmental criteria.

REHAU's organizational structures, methods, and procedures in the fields of safety and environmental protection cover every possible angle. Specific members of staff assigned to each of the fields of Waste, Water Protection, Pollution Control, and Hazardous Materials Transportation report directly to each Plant Manager. A comparable structure is also in place in the field of occupational safety.

The entire organizational structure connects seamlessly with our Environmental Health and Safety department, which keeps all the representatives regularly updated with the latest technical and legal developments in the fields of safety and environmental protection and provides corresponding training as required.

REHAU has been recycling process waste since the 1950s. Our products have been provided with material designations since the 1970s, and, at the end of the 1980s, our company also initiated the development of waste disposal concepts.
