Founding of the Company Founded in 1948 in the Bavarian town of Rehau, the company found many opportunities to replace traditional materials with more effective, polymer-based materials. Initial products included shoe welting, garden hose and automotive components.
The company established a North American division called Plasticana in 1959. Initial products sold were tires, tiles and handrails.
The first Asia/Australia branch was opened in Bangkok in 1972, with its regional headquarters established in Singapore six years later.
In 2000, company founder Helmut Wagner transferred control of the company to his sons. Jobst Wagner became President of the Board of Directors and Dr. Veit Wagner became Vice President.
Development At first, REHAU successfully established itself in Germany and the surrounding countries. It soon expanded throughout Europe, and then to North America and Asia/Australia. Today, REHAU is represented worldwide in more than 50 countries.
