REHAU Plant Jakarta Gets ISO Certification

In another step forward for REHAU in the Asia/Australia region, REHAU Indonesia is pleased to announce the ISO certification of Plant Jakarta.

REHAU Plant Jakarta Gets ISO Certification

Commissioned in 1998, Plant Jakarta produces primarily RAUCORD weaving materials and refrigeration gaskets.

Business and sales of RAUCORD weaving material has been growing by leaps and bounds. There are more RAUCORD lines in the pipeline for the next three years. And, the ISO certification was seen as a way to further impact positive development of the commercial business.

The management and staff of REHAU Indonesia, as well as others in the Singapore head office and in Bangkok, who by their combined and dedicated efforts over the last 12 months, have prepared the production plant, logistic center and administration office to meet the stringent standards of ISO certification.

The ISO certification process was initiated by the management at the Singapore head office in order to centralize the aspects of plant Quality Control (QC). A structure was devised and implemented with all the Plant Quality departments reporting to a Quality Production Management (QPM) unit. Each plant then appointed a Quality System Manager (QSM) whose job is to ensure the coordination of QPM efforts for his or her location, focusing on the establishment of standardised systems of QC from the grassroots level.

To put these standards into practice, REHAU Indonesia appointed Mr. Alfons Dolly as their local Quality System Manager. He is supported by Mr. Baruno Aji.

A task force team was then established at the local level with representatives from all departments, including the Sales Office and Logistic Centre in Jakarta. They were charged with laying out the Quality and Environmental Policy at the local level in conjunction with the Corporate Policy. Next, the REHAU QMS & EMS were merged with local standards, which normalised procedures for all sections of the factory.

During the process, weekly meetings were held on quality and environmental areas that needed to be addressed. Health, safety and pollution standards were measured and all related concerns dealt with, including the legal aspects of local government regulations.

This project was an enormous undertaking and the efforts put in by all REHAU Indonesia employees is very commendable. It has fostered within all who participated a high level of team spirit and focused everyone toward an ultimate goal.

Thanks to the dedication of everyone involved, REHAU Indonesia is proud to be the first REHAU organisation in Asia/Australia to have achieved ISO 9001-2000 and ISO 14001-2004. REHAU Indonesia is also the first plant in whole of REHAU Group to get a combined audit of ISO 9001-2000 and ISO 14001-2004, done simultaneously!

Now that this important goal has been achieved, the employees at REHAU Indonesia look forward to the bigger task of maintaining these high standards and simultaneously remaining focused on continual improvement.
